Who We Are

Action Haiti is a non-profit organization established with a mandate to provide sustainable support to improve the lives of the people in the communities of Haiti. Action Haiti exists to meet the basic needs of the underprivileged by providing education, shelter and support, through various short and long-term community building projects. Action Haiti seeks to enhance the development of the individual, church and community through support systems that will ensure the improvement and advancement of Haiti.

Our approach is collaborative with the residents of Haiti, with a strong emphasis on participation by the members of the communities in various capacities. Action Haiti will work directly with the local community leaders to source products and services locally, and thus optimize local benefits where possible. Action Haiti strives to facilitate empowerment through education and participation. We avoid direct gifts of money to individuals, but rather, develop programs that provide sustainable benefits and stimulate the local economy.

The significance of the name “Action Haiti” is derived from the definition of the word action.

Action (noun): The process or state of acting or of being active. Something done so as to accomplish a purpose or something formed; act; deed.

With this definition in mind, these are the four MAIN “action” objectives of Action Haiti:

  1. To advance education in Haiti by building schools and repairing old school buildings, by carrying on educational programs and by providing school supplies, equipment and educational aids.
  2. To develop “next-generation” leaders by cultivating young minds to advance in various trades and professions that contribute to a desirable Haiti where integrity and human potential are achieved.
  3. To minimize(alleviate) the vast number of desolate orphans by providing proper shelter, food, education and love, and through personal development programs that promote self-confidence and independence.
  4. To offer sustainable aid in the developing communities through various short and long-term community projects that encourage participation of all involved, thereby allowing them to be self-reliable. (total self-reliance.)

The vision of Action Haiti is to cultivate “next-generation” leaders in Haiti who transform society, and who produce and effect change by example in their families, churches and communities. We can achieve this by developing various community building projects that equip, empower and enable the Haitians through education and development.

The mission of Action Haiti is to develop lasting community building projects that will establish schools, provide shelter and deliver sustainable aid in Haiti, thereby renewing the “confident” spirit of Haitians (confidence in Haitians), allowing individuals the chance to succeed and prosper, creating an effective, lifelong change in their communities.
